Consortium

The Building HOPE consortium provides guarantees that the scientific skills required to implement the project are covered: IST, UC and CMU teams have large experience in the field of energy systems modeling and optimization, in particular energy systems and in all cases have been actively working in using data science and artificial intelligence tools in the field of energy. One of the companies in the consortium, Watt-IS, has been developing activity in the field of energy data analytics since 2012 in residential and small enterprises facilities. dstsolar is the largest PV generation installer in Portugal and also an ESCO implementing energy efficiency measures in buildings and innovationpoint is an experienced ICT integrator in multiple areas (smart cities, telecommunications, energy).

Instituto Superior Técnico

ist v2

Instituto Superior Técnico is the largest engineering school in Portugal. Founded in 1911, it currently has 12,000 students throughout the three study cycles (undergraduate, master's and doctoral). It is currently considered the best school in Portugal in different international rankings and among the 20 best engineering schools in Europe.

IST intends to contribute to the development of society, promoting Higher Education in Architecture, Engineering, Science and Technology, developing Research, Development and Innovation (ID & I) activities, essential for teaching at the highest standards countries. For this, it has different autonomous research centers or integrated in associated laboratories, as is the case of the Center for Innovation, Technology and Development Policies IN +. One of this R&D units is IN+ Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research. One of the main research areas of IN+ is the modelling of sustainable energy systems, with high EE in the demand the large penetrations of renewables in the supply. One of the core research fields is buildings and microgrids, using a set of tools ranging from physical modelling, machine learning and optimization algorithms. IN+ is oriented to the application of research to real case studies and has supported energy companies and the Governmental entities in the assessment of several energy options (EDP Produção, GALP, Electricidade dos Açores, ADENE Agência de Energia).
